400 Beneficiaries Receive Life-Changing Eye Care Through Yekatit Hospital Partnership
Babul Keyer USA partners with Yekatit Hospital to provide life-changing eye care treatment to 400 beneficiaries, restoring sight and hope.

Addis Ababa, August 20, 2024 – In a remarkable medical outreach, Babul Keyer USA facilitated eye care treatment for 400 beneficiaries with the support of specialist doctors from Yekatit 12 Hospital Medical College.

For many of these individuals, the program meant the difference between darkness and light. Elderly grandmothers who could no longer see their grandchildren's faces. Fathers unable to work and provide for their families. Individuals confined to their homes, unable to move safely.

"I had given up hope," says Alemitu, a 67-year-old beneficiary whose sight was restored through cataract surgery. "I thought I would spend my remaining years in darkness. The doctors from Yekatit and the team at Babul Keyer USA gave me back my world."

The program provided free eye examinations, diagnosis, medication, and where necessary, surgical interventions. Due to overwhelming demand and the program's success, Babul Keyer USA plans to expand the eye care initiative this year, aiming to reach even more individuals suffering from preventable blindness.

This initiative is part of Babul Keyer USA's broader commitment to healthcare access for vulnerable communities, which also includes covering medication expenses for 270 elders, home care for 500 bedridden individuals, and medical expense support for countless others.
