Addis Ababa, April 22, 2024 – A roof that leaks during rainy season. Walls that provide no protection from cold. Floors that become mud when it rains. These were the homes of 38 families before Babul Keyer USA stepped in.

Through its housing renovation program, Babul Keyer USA has transformed dilapidated houses into safe, dignified homes for vulnerable families. Each renovation means children can study without getting wet, elderly parents can sleep without shivering, families can live with dignity.

"I had given up hope of ever living in a proper home," says Mulu, a widow whose house was completely renovated. "My children were always sick from the dampness. Now they have a warm, dry place to do their homework. You cannot imagine what this means to us."

The renovations include structural repairs, new roofing, improved flooring, and basic amenities. Beyond the physical transformation, the program restores hope and dignity to families who have faced years of hardship.

Building on this success, Babul Keyer USA plans to expand the housing support program to renovate an additional 50 homes for vulnerable families, ensuring even more households can experience the security and comfort of a safe home.
